Job Summary
The Laboratory Technologist I performs medical laboratory testing in a core lab environment rotating through Biochemistry, Hematology/Coagulation, and Blood Collection/Specimen Procurement. Work includes, but is not limited to, performing automated and manual testing on various specimens; maintaining the integrity of the specimens through proper identification, handling, sorting, and storing of samples; reviewing patient reports and entering data; and operating and maintaining various automated instruments; and performing other related duties as required.

Occasionally lifts and/or unload objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
Regularly stands or sits for extended periods, requiring constant repetitive movement of upper extremities and walking to deliver reports/results.
Visual and auditory concentration are constant and eye/hand coordination and higher than normal levels of attentiveness are required.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from a recognized (accredited) program with a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or a degree in Medical Laboratory Science is required.
Successful completion of the Medical Laboratory Technologist national examination in the applicable field(s) of practice, as recognized in Canada, is required.
Current and continuing registration with the NL Council of Health Professionals is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
