ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services – Western Zone is seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant to join the Hospitalist Program at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL.

The successful candidate will work as a member of the Hospitalist team, supporting the delivery of comprehensive inpatient medical care under the supervision of a staff physician. Western Memorial Regional Hospital is a newly constructed, state-of-the-art acute care facility that opened in June 2024. The hospital serves as a 164-bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland, delivering a broad range of secondary and select tertiary services to a population of approximately 80,000 residents.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
  • Eligible for licensure as a Clinical Assistant with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
  • Must satisfy privileging and credentialing requirements of NL Health Services Western Zone including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work as a member of the Hospitalist team to assist physicians with patient rounds, admissions, and discharges
  • Perform other duties as required within the scope and qualifications of the Clinical Assistant licence
  • Provide after-hours, weekend, and statutory holiday on-call coverage as assigned
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary Hospitalist team
  • Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

As per Memorandum of Agreement
