The New Brunswick Housing Corporation (NBHC) is seeking an individual to join the Housing Team as Technical Services Inspectors in Moncton under its Infrastructure Division.
NBHC is a Crown Corporation that was established in 2023 that is responsible for developing and maintaining provincial housing facilities, programs, initiatives, strategies, and renting services for landlord and tenants. NBHC is focused on working with all levels of government, community group, organizations, and private sector to identify and maximize housing development opportunities while providing support through a housing strategy to positively impact New Brunswickers.
What you will do:
As a member of the Housing Branch, the major duties of this position will be to:
- Conduct building inspections for a variety of housing programs on government owned as well as on private residences, to ensure compliance with plans, contracts, regulations, codes and standards.
- Assess the condition of these buildings and make recommendations for necessary repair work.
- Write tenders and contracts.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, cost estimates and detailed cost analysis.
Above duties require an understanding of the National Building Code and how it applies to the construction industry. Inspections include but are not limited to structural, ventilation, plumbing, heating and electrical energy efficient components. The candidate must possess strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills, as well as independent judgement within the framework of governing regulations, laws, codes and policies. Other duties may be assigned as required.
Need to have:
- Two (2) year diploma in Civil or Building (Building Systems or Construction Management) Engineering Technology and possess a minimum of one (1) year experience in building construction and/or building inspection.
- Have graduated from a (1) year carpentry certification program (diploma) and possess a minimum of two (2) years' experience in building construction and/or building inspection.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required for the current vacancy. Please state your language capability.

In order to be appointed, Civil engineering technology or Building engineering technology program candidates must be registered and maintain their membership with the NB Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists. Carpentry certification program candidates must have a Red Seal certification.
Operational requirements:
- A valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Traveling within the region to conduct building inspections.

Wage: $61,620 to $77,428 annually
