Summary

Bell Media in the BC Peace region is looking for a full time Multi Skilled Journalist for TV and web. Our team energetically tracks down stories and attends news events for coverage on television and the web! If you're an enthusiastic and passionate Videographer ready to diversify your skills and dive into a new and fulfilling experience, this opportunity is for you!

The Peace Country is located in the Northeast region of B.C. and is a vibrant and growing area, which offers world class fishing in our many lakes and rivers, along with skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, biking, and so much more. From wide-open prairie, to densely forested mountains, the Peace Country offers something for everyone!

Key Responsibilities

With the support of the News Director, you will:

  • Immerse yourself in our community - develop community contacts, regularly check in with police, fire and ambulance, etc.
  • Attend news events, chase stories and follow up on files.
  • Attend municipal government, school district and regional district meetings regularly.
  • Edit and produce stories for television and the web on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate as a team to brainstorm riveting story ideas and news coverage plans.
  • Expand your skills with the opportunity to backfill as Anchor on the newscast.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Critical Qualifications
  • Must be comfortable in front of the camera with a professional presence and be ready to dive into live TV!
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a mature and professional manner.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and work with minimal supervision at times.
  • Strong news and web writing skills.
  • Degree or Diploma from a recognized Broadcast/Journalism Program or equivalent experience.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to operate ENG camera and digital editing software such as Premier Pro.
  • Knowledge of Burli considered an asset.
  • Preferred 1 – 3 years' experience in a similar or related position.
  • A full and unrestricted BC Class 5 drivers' licence with a clean drivers' abstract is required.

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
