Title: Student – Parks & Trees
Salary: $17.50 hourly

Description:

Love working outdoors? Join our Parks & Trees team for a temporary position this Fall! Help maintain sports fields, parks, green spaces, and trails while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic outdoor environment. If you're ready to make a difference in your community, we want to hear from you!

Essential

To be considered for this position, applicants must demonstrate the following:

  • Applicants must have a valid driver's license (class 5).
  • Must be enrolled in post-secondary.

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered where they provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential duties of the position. Applicants are encouraged to describe how their background aligns with the requirements of the role.

The following qualifications are not required but may strengthen an application:

  • A valid air brake license (E endorsement).
  • WHMIS and first aid certification.

What You'll Do

  • Strenuous physical labour.
  • Bed preparation, Planting, Edging, Weeding, Pruning, & trimming.
  • Operating of zero-turn mowers, 1 Ton trucks, Trailers, small equipment and power tools.
  • Preparations and maintenance of all sports fields.
  • Special events asset deployment
  • Trail and Playground maintenance.
  • Responds cool and calm in the face of stresses and pressures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain respectful, cooperative, and professional working relationships with your team and community at all times.
  • Ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a team.
  • Other duties as required.
