Under the general direction of the Inspector of Support Services or designate, this position is responsible for providing administrative support and assistance to various managers in the Support Services Division of the Saint John Police (SJP).

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•Creates, distributes and maintains Force Directives on behalf of Inspector
•Coordinates and maintains SJP events calendar
•Composes a variety of correspondence and documents as requested
•Orders and maintains office supplies
•Performs all duties in relation to organizing and scheduling meetings
•Documents minutes of meetings and makes copies for distribution on an as required basis
•Open, sorts and distributes mail
•Assist with planning and organizing various ceremonies and community events
•Performs general office duties as required including keyboarding, filing and photocopying
•Uses various computer systems and other general office equipment.
•Other administrative duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

•A proficiency level of knowledge in Microsoft Office Systems and general office equipment
•Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (oral & written)
•Strong organization skills
•Successful completion of the Saint John Police Force security clearance
•Previous work in a police environment is an asset

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

•The successful candidate must possess a diploma in Office Administration from NBCC, or Business Certificate 1 from UNB or an equivalent program.
