Clearwater Seafoods' Finance department is seeking a Financial Analyst, Land-Based Operations (LBO) to join the team at our Bedford, Nova Scotia Corporate Office. The position is a permanent, full-time position reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, LBO.

Purpose of Position:

The Financial Analyst, LBO supports financial reporting, analysis, period-end close, budgeting, and operational decision-making for Clearwater's land-based operations. This role works closely with finance, operations, production teams, and plant management to provide accurate and timely financial information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and support financial reporting for land-based operations, including results against budget, prior year, and operational targets.
  • Compile and calculate key operating variances, including labour, overhead, freight, stock transfer, and other cost drivers.
  • Support period-end close activities, including routine journal entries, account analysis, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with variance follow-up by investigating exceptions and providing support to finance, operations and production stakeholders.
  • Support budgeting and planning activities, including compiling historical data, updating planning models, and assisting with SAP budget inputs.
  • Provide financial support for savings initiatives, cost avoidance analysis, process improvements, and other business requirements as needed.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates who seek to complete a CPA designation.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience.
  • SAP user knowledge is considered an asset.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Working Conditions:

  • Location: Bedford, Nova Scotia
  • Occasional travel to plants may be required
