Are you ready to apply your knowledge in the real world? We are currently looking for a Co-op (Electrical) student to join our Tufts Cove Generating station Engineering Team in a temporary position reporting to the Manager - Projects Engineering.

During your time with us, you will gain exposure to what it's like to be part of a team supporting operational planning, maintenance strategy, and continuous improvement initiatives across Nova Scotia Power's generating stations.

What you'll do:

As an Electrical Co-op Student, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting capital projects and day-to-day plant operations while working alongside experienced engineers, technicians, and operations teams.
  • Contribute to capital projects, including:

    • Completing design packages (e.g. engineering drawings, cable schedule, commissioning sheets).

    • Assisting with the procurement and coordination of project materials.
    • Supporting installation and commissioning activities in collaboration with the E&I team.
  • Working with E&I shop, operations, plant engineers to help troubleshoot day to day operating issues.

  • Drafting As-built drawings and procedures as required.

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

What You'll Bring:

We're looking for curious, motivated students who are eager to learn, contribute, and grow their engineering skills.

You will be a strong candidate if you:

  • Are working towards an Electrical Engineering degree (preferred), ideally in the 2nd to 4th year of studies.

  • You are an experienced engineering student with strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • Having familiarity with risk management, project controls, and project management methodologies will be considered an asset.

  • Possess excellent communication and relationship skills, and an ability to work well with at various levels of the organization.

  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite will be considered an asset (E.g., Excel, SharePoint, Visio).
