What you will do:
The roles and responsibilities will include the following:
- Assisting the manager with planning and designing the gift shop layout, to maximize return on investment and achieve department goals
- Assisting the manager with researching new products and quickly responding to any new trends
- Assisting the manager with creating policies and procedures
- Assisting the manager with managing and maintaining staffing levels within the pre-approved budget
- Hiring and training new employees
- Scheduling, coaching, motivating and disciplining staff as required
- Working with current point-of-sale (POS) system to manage inventory
- Documenting any damaged product when receiving merchandise and contacting suppliers to request credits
- Recording any merchandise damage or shortages, including theft, that occur during the gift shop's operation
- Managing any price increases of merchandise
- Assisting the manager with attending local and out-of-province buying shows to find new and unique merchandise for the gift shop
- Creating employee workplans, providing all employees with regular feedback on performance, completing mid-season and year-end evaluations
- Overseeing the inventory of all merchandise and completing regular spot checks to compare POS counts with actual inventory on hand and identifying any shortages
- Promoting, training on, and enforcing all health and safety policies within the gift shop and throughout the park
- Documenting staff training and ensuring that all staff have reviewed and signed their handbooks
- Handling challenging customer service situations
- Completing any other office duties as required
Who you are:
You are an effective communicator with a passion for offering the best customer service available. You have strong organizational and multitasking skills You can deal with stressful situations and resolve problems independently.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Required Competencies:
- Graduation from high school or GED
- A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience in a customer service environment
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.
Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration. Please ensure that preferred language for assessment is identified on your resume.
Nice to have:
- Experience using Microsoft Office
- Experience hiring, scheduling, training, coaching and motivating staff
- Experience in cash handling and inventory control
- Valid Emergency First Aid/CPR certification

Wage:
Pay Band 1 - $1,656.00 to $2,334.00 bi-weekly
Work environment:
- Office location: Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park
- Working evenings, weekends, holidays, shifts and variable hours
- Occasional travel throughout the province may be required
