Who we are:

The Village historique acadien is an open-air museum consisting of a 2.2 km trail, lined with some forty historical buildings, all animated by costumed interpreters who present the daily life of the Acadians from 1770 to 1949.

Since it opened in 1977, the Village offers many Acadian cultural experiences for the whole family. Ever evolving, this popular tourist site now has five restaurants and snack bars, one hotel as well as two boutiques. In full operation from June to September, the Village employs close to 200 people during the high tourist season.

What you will do:

As a member of the Village historique acadien team, you will oversee the maintenance and repair of multiple buildings, structures and grounds.

You will be responsible for the following:

• Supervising employees, preparing work schedules, providing directions and advice, monitoring work schedule work, completing time sheets and reviewing performance
• Operating and maintaining vehicles and equipment (tractors, snow blowers, saws, lawnmowers and other tools), small vehicles (all-terrain vehicles), including basic maintenance on trucks (tires and oil)
• Maintaining stave, flour and sawmill engines
• Doing visual inspections of work, as well as inspecting supplies to ensure adequate inventory and for fire and safety hazards, to resolve any issues
• Coordinating and prioritizing work orders, scheduling and coordinating contractors
• Performing other duties as required

You are someone who possesses knowledge of Health and Safety Procedures. You are an effective interactive communicator and have good teamwork and cooperation skills. You are flexible and client service orientation driven. You maintain self control and stamina.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Required Competencies:

• Completion of high school or GED
• Considerable experience near the Journeyperson level in occupations within building, mechanical, and/or electrical trades
• A valid class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in French is required. Please state your language capability.

Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration. Please ensure that preferred language for assessment is identified on your resume.

Nice to have:

• Qualification and certification as a tradesperson in the mechanical trade
• Experience in troubleshooting systems and performing small repairs
• Experience with equipment management systems

Wage:

$31.74 per hour
