JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Vice President of Cross-Functional Services and in accordance with operational needs and organizational priorities, the person serving as Head of Professional Practice provides strategic leadership to promote competent practice, interdisciplinarity, and excellence in patient care among all regulated and unregulated professionals with clinical responsibilities within the Vitalité Health Network—with the exception of medical and nursing staff. He or she ensures that allied health professionals, Network staff members, contract staff, and those with guest status hold a valid license to practice and comply with the privilege renewal process.

She ensures that decisions promote high-quality practice environments for healthcare professionals and that the standards of practice for various professionals are upheld—or guided in the absence of such standards. Through her responsibilities, she contributes to the evolution of the scope of practice and to interdisciplinary collaboration in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer and the Nursing Practice Leadership Team. In addition, she establishes and develops partnerships with internal and external stakeholders—such as regulatory bodies, postsecondary education programs, and other partners—to address issues that impact healthcare.

Responsibilities also include participating in the development of standards, policies, and procedures; assessing and developing competencies; and designing training programs to address specific needs. The individual is responsible for overseeing and guiding the work of the professional practice team members. He or she is responsible for preparing and reporting on the annual review of the sector's achievements. They ensure that performance indicators are identified, documented, and analyzed to ensure continuous improvement in quality and performance. They communicate challenges, needs, and action plans to the appropriate stakeholders. They actively contribute to the implementation of the organization's priority projects.

Experience

  • Significant experience in collaborative and interdisciplinary work;
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, procedures, documentation forms, and prescriptions;
