SummaryBell's AI Fabric initiative is pioneering a secure, sovereign AI compute network across Canada. This ambitious portfolio features seven large-scale, high-density data centers, anchored by a 500 MW B.C supercluster and a 300 MW flagship site in Regina, Saskatchewan.
As MEP / CX Site Director, you will be the senior on-site authority accountable for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and the full commissioning (Cx) lifecycle of an assigned data centre. You'll own the journey from MEP installation through integrated systems testing to a fully validated, operational-ready handover—ensuring power, cooling, and resiliency systems perform to mission-critical standards before the facility goes live.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the senior on-site leader accountable for MEP delivery and commissioning outcomes across the full lifecycle of an assigned data centre.
- Own the site commissioning (Cx) program end-to-end—factory acceptance (FAT), site acceptance (SAT), integrated systems testing (IST), and level 1–5 commissioning through to handover.
- Oversee installation and quality of all MEP systems—power distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, chilled water, and high-density/liquid cooling.
- Manage MEP contractors, commissioning agents (CxA), and vendors, holding them accountable to scope, quality, safety, and milestone commitments.
- Own MEP/Cx schedule integrity and integration into the master construction sequence, driving predictable, on-time systems turnover.
- Validate power, cooling, and resiliency/redundancy performance to mission-critical standards ahead of operational handover.
- Champion a zero-incident safety culture across MEP installation and energized commissioning activities, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
- Ensure design intent is executed correctly, coordinating LOD design classification and A/E-to-GC detailed engineering handoffs.
- Partner cross-functionally with site construction, engineering, program controls, and operations to align MEP/Cx with capacity plans and readiness milestones.
- Lead change governance, risk management, and issue resolution across MEP/Cx scope, escalating proactively to Capital Programs leadership.
- 12+ years leading MEP delivery and/or commissioning on large-scale construction programs, with direct hyperscale or mission-critical data centre experience (100MW+ preferred).
- Proven track record owning the full commissioning lifecycle (FAT, SAT, IST, Levels 1–5) through to operational handover.
- Deep technical expertise in data centre M&E systems—power distribution, UPS, generators, chilled water, and high-density/liquid cooling.
- Strong understanding of commissioning methodologies, LOD design classification, and A/E-to-GC engineering handoffs.
- Experience managing MEP contractors, commissioning agents, and specialized vendors on active sites.
- Command of schedule management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and MEP/Cx sequencing integration.
- Demonstrated safety leadership on active, energized MEP and commissioning environments.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams and influence senior engineering, contractor, and executive stakeholders.
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline; P.Eng., PMP, or commissioning certification (e.g., ACG/CxA, BCxP) strongly preferred.
- Willingness to be on-site and travel between Canadian build locations as the portfolio scales.
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
