SCHEDULE: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, On Call, Rotation, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

We are looking for a motivated orthopedic surgeon who wants to be part of a dynamic team, where mutual support, communication, and teamwork are essential to the quality of care we provide to our patients.

This is a general orthopedic surgery practice within a 160-bed regional hospital that houses most surgical specialties, including an 8-bed intensive care unit. This is an opportunity to contribute to the development of orthopedic services and to make a real difference in a community that offers an excellent quality of life in a region with exceptional access to outdoor activities and the ocean, all at an affordable cost of living.

Your Main Responsibilities:

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat various musculoskeletal conditions;
  • Perform orthopedic surgical procedures in accordance with best practices;
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients;
  • Work closely with members of the medical and interdisciplinary teams to provide high-quality care;
  • Actively participate in the development and continuous improvement of clinical practice;
  • Participate in regional on-call duty (typically 1 in 6 days to 1 in 8 days).

Qualifications:

  • Hold or be eligible for a regular or defined license to practice medicine in New Brunswick;
  • Excellent clinical and surgical skills;
  • A collaborative spirit and a desire to contribute to a team of four surgeons, where each member plays an important role;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Independence, professionalism, and a sense of responsibility;
  • A patient-centered approach and a commitment to excellence in care;
  • Training or a strong interest in sports orthopedics, particularly shoulder and knee surgery, is an asset;
  • Fluency in French is an asset.

Requirements:

  • A degree from an accredited medical school and a residency leading to licensure in orthopedic surgery.

By "accredited medical school," we mean a school that meets the following criteria:

  • Accredited by the Canadian Accreditation Committee of Medical Schools (CAFMC) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) (in the United States);
  • Listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and bearing a note from Canada.

OR

  • Recognized certification in orthopedic surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

AND

  • Hold a license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick;
  • Be an active member of the Canadian Medical Protective Association or an association offering equivalent liability insurance;
  • Be a member of the New Brunswick Medical Society;
  • Hold privileges with the Vitalité Health Network;
  • Be registered with New Brunswick Health Insurance;
  • Experience (one to three years) is considered an asset;
  • Basic proficiency in French;
