Definition of work:
The Painter/Plasterer performs painting and plastering work in the maintenance and new construction of building structures, equipment and furnishings within Central Health facilities. Primary duties will involve plastering, preparing surfaces for applying paint, the ability to erect scaffolding, proper maintenance of tools, coordinate work orders with other trade workers, and any other duties as assigned. The successful applicant is responsible for the utilization of proper methods, materials and tools used for maintaining buildings, surroundings and equipment; also ensures proper storage of hazardous materials. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centred care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
• Graduation from a minimum one-year post-secondary program in Painting and Plastering approved by NLHS.
• Minimum four years’ experience in painting and plastering trade.
• Experience in infection control measures.
• A valid Class V driver’s license issued by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
• Demonstrated ability to lift or move objects over 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated knowledge of computers.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Consistent demonstration of NLHS corporate values; Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence (ICARE)
• A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
• A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience working in a health care environment.
