McInnes Cooper's Marketing & Business Development team is seeking a full-time, permanent Communications Specialist to join our Halifax office.

Responsibilities

As a Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for:

Content Development & Editorial

  • Draft, edit, and refine external communications including website content and updates, press releases, award nominations, pitches and proposals, media list maintenance and representative work.
  • Ensure messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with brand standards
  • Translate complex information into clear, client-friendly language
  • Maintain high standards of editorial quality

Digital & Web Content Management

  • Manage website updates, including drafting, editing, posting, and optimizing content across key pages
  • Coordinate with lawyers, internal stakeholders and technical teams to keep digital content accurate and aligned with firm priorities
  • Support online visibility through digital campaigns and content initiatives

Business Development & Proposal Support

  • Edit proposal, pitch, and business development content when needed
  • Develop compelling value propositions with lawyers
  • Finalize formal RFP responses and pitch document design and maintain consistent formatting

Content Coordination & Workflow Management

  • Manage content workflows end-to-end
  • Coordinate inputs and manage timelines
  • Ensure consistency across projects

Strategic Communications Support

  • Support marketing and firm initiatives as required
  • Improve external communication effectiveness and reach
  • Contribute to campaigns and cross-functional initiatives
Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a combination of the following:

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, or related field
  • Several years of relevant experience
  • Experience with digital content and proposals
  • Familiarity with CMS tools
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative suite, and content calendar scheduling apps are an asset.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to simplify complex information
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Collaborative and proactive approach
  • Strategic thinking and professionalism
