ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
NL Health Services – Eastern Rural Zone invites applications for three (3) permanent full-time Hospitalist Physicians at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, NL.
The Hospitalist will work independently providing services in chronic disease management, acute inpatient care, long-term care, palliative care, respite care, and emergency care and patient stabilization. The position is responsible for daily ward rounds and ward work including arranging investigations, family meetings, and availability to review patients during working hours. The position provides inpatient care and onsite call coverage. This opportunity is open to physicians with a background in Family Medicine.
Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital provides services to a catchment area of approximately 20,000 people. The hospital has 41 acute care beds including palliative care, medical/surgical, obstetrics, pediatric, and ICU beds, as well as 9 ER beds and 44 long-term care beds. Services include anesthesia, chemotherapy, family practice, general surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, ICU/Cardiac, internal medicine, laboratory, palliative care, pathology, pediatrics, psychiatry, radiology, respiratory therapy, ultrasonography, and 24-hour emergency (Category A). Visiting clinics include neurology and ophthalmology.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Eligible for licensure as a Family Physician with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)

- Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive inpatient care including clinical assessments and medical oversight
- Manage patients with chronic disease, acute care, palliative care, respite care, and emergency stabilization
- Conduct daily ward rounds and ward work including arranging investigations and family meetings
- Provide onsite call coverage as required
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
REMUNERATION
Remuneration will be in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador, commensurate with level of training and experience.
