Role Overview
We are hiring a Financial Controller to own the day-to-day financial operations of the business. Reporting to the MD Finance, this role is central to the accuracy, integrity, and velocity of FMP's financial reporting across its multi-entity, multi-currency structure.
This is a hands-on role suited to a qualified CPA with strong technical accounting skills, an appetite for process improvement, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment. You will be responsible for the month-end close, statutory compliance, intercompany accounting, and supporting the executive team on board and investor reporting.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Financial Reporting & Close
- Own the month-end and quarter-end close process across all entities
- Prepare consolidated financial statements under ASPE/IFRS, including multi-entity consolidation and intercompany eliminations
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of the chart of accounts
- Prepare and present monthly management accounts to the executive team
- Support annual audit and coordinate with external auditors
Revenue Recognition & Compliance
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 / IFRS 15 across FMP's subscription and data licensing revenue streams
- Maintain deferred revenue schedules, ARR reconciliations, and SaaS revenue metrics
- Oversee multi-jurisdictional sales tax and indirect tax compliance (Canadian HST/GST, US state sales tax, UK VAT, Australian GST, German VAT)
- Manage Part XIII withholding tax compliance and cross-border intercompany transactions
Tax & Statutory Compliance
- Support preparation of Canadian corporate tax filings (T2) and coordination with external tax advisors
- Maintain statutory records and coordinate corporate filings
Systems, Processes & Controls
- Drive adoption and optimization of the ERP / accounting platform (currently transitioning off QuickBooks to a multi-entity cloud GL)
- Design, document, and enforce internal controls and accounting policies
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to increase the efficiency and quality of the finance function
Required Qualifications
- CPA designation (required - CPA Canada or equivalent)
- 2-5 years of post-designation experience in a controller, senior accountant, or equivalent role
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (ASPE, IFRS, ASC 606 / IFRS 15 revenue recognition)
- Hands-on experience with multi-entity consolidation and intercompany accounting
- Proficiency with modern cloud accounting or ERP platforms (e.g. Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or similar)
- Comfortable managing month-end close independently with minimal oversight
- Excellent Excel/Google Sheets skills; experience with financial modelling
- High attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at a SaaS, fintech, or technology company
- Familiarity with SaaS finance metrics (ARR, MRR, churn, LTV, CAC)
- Exposure to PE-backed company environments and investor reporting
- Multi-jurisdictional tax compliance experience (Canada + US, UK, or other)
- Experience with ERP implementation or migration projects
- Big 4 or mid-market public accounting background
