As a Case Manager, you will play a key role in supporting employees during periods of disability leave. You will be responsible for the adjudication and ongoing management of disability claims, with a strong focus on facilitating timely and sustainable return-to-work outcomes.
This role includes full case management responsibility for Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) claims, including the assessment of medical, occupational, and psychosocial factors, the implementation of targeted interventions, and collaboration with key stakeholders.
In addition, you will be responsible for the adjudication (assessment and decision-making) of claims related to Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), Waiver of Premium, and Critical Illness (CI), ensuring decisions are aligned with contractual provisions and company standards.
- Manage Short-Term and Long-Term Disability (STD/LTD) claims from initial assessment through to resolution
- Communicate regularly with employees, managers, and stakeholders to support case progression and return-to-work planning
- Assess medical, occupational, psychosocial and other relevant factors impacting recovery and return to work
- Identify barriers and implement appropriate interventions to support timely, sustainable return-to-work outcomes
- Support return-to-work plans, including modified duties or graduated schedules
- Assess and adjudicate Life, AD&D, Waiver of Premium, and Critical Illness claims in line with policy provisions
- Review medical and supporting documentation to determine eligibility and entitlement
- Communicate claim decisions clearly and maintain accurate documentation
- Maintain strong customer service while meeting quality standards and timelines
- Contribute to special projects or other duties as needed
- Bilingual (English and French) with strong verbal and written communication skills
- University degree in Health Sciences or a related field (or equivalent disability management experience)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in disability case management or a similar role
- Strong knowledge of disability insurance and contract interpretation
- Solid analytical skills with the ability to make sound decisions and exercise good judgment
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a high level of professionalism, empathy, and diplomacy
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and compliance
