ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Internal Medicine Program at NL Health Services invites applicants for full-time, salaried Clinical Assistant positions in the Division of Internal Medicine. Opportunities are available at the following sites:

  • Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Burin, NL
  • Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear, NL
  • G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, NL

The Clinical Assistant will work closely with an Internal Medicine Specialist, providing services in chronic disease management, acute inpatient care, long-term care, palliative care, respite care, and emergency care and patient stabilization, under appropriate supervision.

This position is accountable to the Clinical Chief of the Medicine Program and will be responsible for daily ward rounds and ward work, including arranging investigations, family meetings, and availability to review patients during working hours. The position provides inpatient care and onsite call coverage for Internal Medicine.

This opportunity is open to physicians with a background in Family Medicine — including community Family Physicians — as well as physicians with a specialist background.

QUALIFICATIONS

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide inpatient care under the supervision of an Internal Medicine Specialist
  • Conduct daily ward rounds and ward work including arranging investigations and family meetings
  • Provide onsite call coverage for Internal Medicine
  • Support chronic disease management, palliative care, respite care, and emergency stabilization
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary Internal Medicine team
  • Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

REMUNERATION

Remuneration is competitive and in accordance with the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association Memorandum of Agreement.
