Job Details:
Jackman Eye Institute is seeking a motivated Nurse Practitioner to join our growing ophthalmology team. We are open to hiring part-time or full-time. This role is ideal someone who enjoys clinical autonomy, values patient-centered care, and is interested in developing specialized expertise in eye health.
No prior ophthalmology experience is required, comprehensive training and ongoing education in ophthalmic care will be provided

About the Role
The Nurse Practitioner supports clinic flow and patient access by managing low-risk assessment clinics, assisting with red eye triage, and providing ongoing care for established patients. This role helps ensure timely, high-quality care while allowing physicians to focus on surgical and complex cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Triage and assess red eye and ocular concerns
- Manage low-risk assessment clinics
- Perform focused patient histories and assessments
- Provide medication management and prescription renewals
- Identify and escalate complex cases as needed
- Document care in the EMR
- Educate patients on treatment and follow-up
- Collaborate with physicians and clinic staff
Training & Development
- Structured onboarding and ophthalmology training
- Ongoing mentorship from experienced clinicians
- Exposure to cataract, refractive, and medical ophthalmology
- Support for continued learning and career growth
Qualifications
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner in good standing
- Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Collaborative team approach
- Interest in ophthalmology and willingness to learn
