Salary Range: $19.19 - $23.33 per hour

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Manager Technology Enhanced Learning, the Audio Visual Assistant provides day-to-day assistance in the equipment pool and media lab. This role supports the planning, coordination, and scheduling of all services and operations within the equipment pool and media lab and collaborates with each space's Resource Administrator/Education Coordinator.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for equipment loan services, assisting faculty, staff, and students with borrowing and returning technology for instructional and academic purposes.
  • Instruct clients on proper operation and care of borrowed equipment.
  • Maintain accurate loan records and track equipment availability; follow up on overdue or damaged items.
  • Inspect, test, and prepare equipment before and after each loan transaction to ensure items are in working order.
  • Flag maintenance needs and assist with equipment upgrades or replacements as directed.
  • Consult with clients to assess AV requirements and assist in designing appropriate technical solutions for events.
  • Set up, test, and operate AV equipment for on-campus and off-campus events, including microphones, projectors, displays, video conferencing systems, and recording equipment.
  • Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting during events to ensure reliable delivery.
  • Coordinate event scheduling and logistics with the Resource Administrator/Education Coordinator.
  • Dismantle and safely store equipment following events.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining documentation for standard AV event configurations.
  • Prepare chargebacks and invoices for services provided through the equipment pool and the media lab.
  • Maintain accurate records of billable services and assist with documentation for statistical reporting.
  • Assist in managing cash sales and receipts for media lab services when in the space, including completing appropriate documentation for billing, record keeping and statistics;
  • Assist with scheduling the open access computer lab for faculty, their classes and students.
  • Assist in ensuring the efficient functioning of the Media Lab including client access to equipment.
  • Assist with answering email and phone departmental inquiries.
  • Ensure the security of hardware in equipment pool and media lab.
  • Provide supplementary assistance in the media lab on an as-needed basis, including printing services, large format printing for poster presentations and events, 3D printing, and podcasting.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post secondary diploma in multimedia, graphic design, video production, information technology, computer science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an equipment loan, AV support, or instructional technology role.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Strengths

  • Demonstrated experience with AV event set-up and operation, including microphones, projectors, video conferencing systems, and related hardware.
  • Experience in a post-secondary or educational environment is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills, with the ability to support users of varying technical proficiency.
  • Practical knowledge of AV equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to manage time and equipment logistics effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
  • Familiarity with financial record-keeping, including chargebacks and invoicing processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for inventory and loan tracking.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and to defer appropriately to supervisory staff.
  • Familiarity with multimedia software and media lab equipment is an asset.
