Who we are
The Department of Finance and Treasury Board is seeking an individual to join the Treasury Management and Fiscal Policy Division as a Senior Financial Analyst. The Treasury Management and Fiscal Policy Division has responsibility for banking and cash management, debt management, tax policy, fiscal, economic and statistical policy, research and analysis and federal-provincial fiscal relations.
Who you are
As a member of the Fiscal, Economic and Statistical Analysis Branch, the successful candidate will have the lead responsibility for the day-to-day management of fiscal analysis and the government's revenue forecast function as well as the preparation of fiscal documents.
What you will do
Responsibilities include:
Coordination of government revenue forecast, budget plan and multi-year revenue projections;
Coordinating the development of fiscal documents;
Monitoring in-year revenue developments;
Researching and analysis of revenue/budget issues;
Preparing briefing materials on fiscal matters;
Undertaking fiscal policy analysis;
Undertaking a variety of studies involving collecting and analyzing fiscal and financial data, developing indicators, and making estimates and forecasts based on past and current trends;
Recommending and implementing new methods techniques and/or approaches to be used for resolving problems;
Monitoring and briefing of fiscal trends and developments at a national and provincial level.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior staff and oversee day-to-day work of junior staff. The successful candidate must be able to work well under pressure and deadlines while also delivering quality, accurate, timely work and taking initiative.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Pay Band 04 level: Bachelor's degree in arts, Business Administration, Commerce or a related degree with coursework in Economics, Statistics or Accounting. Minimum of three (3) years of related experience; experience with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with provincial financial systems, including Oracle. A solid understanding of the government's overall revenue and expenditure framework. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Pay Band 05 level: Bachelor's degree in arts, Business Administration, Commerce or a related degree with coursework in Economics, Statistics or Accounting. Minimum of five (5) years of related experience; experience with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with provincial financial systems, including Oracle. A solid understanding of the government's overall revenue and expenditure framework.
Pay Band 06 level: Bachelor's degree in arts, Business Administration, Commerce or a related degree with coursework in Economics, Statistics or Accounting. Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience; experience with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with provincial financial systems, including Oracle. A solid understanding of the government's overall revenue and expenditure framework.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate:
- A Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) or enrollment in the program
Experience with financial concepts and spreadsheets
Experience in supervising or mentoring staff.
Experience in data analysis.
Experience with developing and maintaining large datasets;

Salary:
Pay Band 4: $59,046 to $82,576 annually, commensurate with experience.
Pay Band 5: $67,600 to $94,406 annually, commensurate with experience.
Pay Band 6: $78,546 to $104,494 annually, commensurate with experience.
