Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, Kool Rite Limited, is seeking a Refrigeration & A/C Apprentice Mechanic to join their team in St. John's, NL. Kool Rite Limited is one of the leading service providers for a wide variety of commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment. They are seeking 3rd/4th Year Apprentices for this opportunity to provide service, maintenance and troubleshooting on commercial refrigeration, air conditioning and dispensing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travels to customer sites to provide service, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Installs, repairs and maintains various refrigeration and HVAC equipment with supervision as required.
  • Working with hand and power tools to install refrigeration or air conditioning components.
  • Measuring and cutting piping and connecting piping using welding equipment.
  • Testing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems for leaks.
  • Performing routine maintenance.
  • Perform/assist with equipment movements as required.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
  • Dismantle equipment and remove/replace defective parts.
  • Maintain inventories of equipment, parts and supplies by checking stock and requesting orders.
  • Prepare service work reports and time sheets, either on paper or electronically.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with customers.
  • Demonstrates upmost professionalism.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Refrigeration & A/C trade program, applicable to 3rd/4th Year Apprenticeship level.
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience with ability to troubleshoot and repair refrigeration & HVAC equipment.
  • Experience with commercial refrigeration, A/C, HVAC and dispensing equipment is an asset.
  • Fall Protection safety course or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's with clean Driver's Abstract.
  • In-depth knowledge of system operation and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations.
  • Skilled in customer service and creating reports.

Job Details:

  • Standard 40-hour workweek. Monday-Friday. Some Overtime required due to unexpected service issues.
  • Indoor and outdoor work environments. Various conditions capabilities.
  • Heavy lifting, standing, bending, working at heights and using ground ladders may be required.
