Responsibilities

This position is located at Cumberland Campus, in the Northen Region, at the Springhill and Amherst sites. As the Academic Chair for the School of Access, Business, Creative Industries and Education and School of Health and Human Services, you will:

  • Lead the delivery of Academic Upgrading, and Health and Human Services, programs at the Campus ensuring the highest standard of quality and consistency in programing while supporting student success. You will also be responsible for overseeing an Early Childhood Education program delivered via NSCC's e-Campus.
  • In addition to responsibility for academic programming, you will also oversee the day-to-day operations of the daycare center at the Springhill Campus.
  • Be a key member of both Campus and School teams. Campuses and Schools share accountability for ensuring a quality-learning environment and a cohesive campus team.
  • Use your established relationships in Academic Upgrading and Health and Human Services related sectors regionally and locally to inform programming and opportunities for students.

Your strategic and operational leadership is key to ensuring the objectives of programs offered by NSCC are met through efficient and effective management of all fiscal and human resources, while endorsing the application of adult education principles, within a safe work environment, and portfolio learning in a learning-centered college.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree in education or a field of study related to health and human services. A Graduate Degree in education would be considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of 7 years (full-time equivalent) of recent and progressive occupational experience in a field related to the School(s). You have a minimum of five years experience in a formal supervisory, management or leadership role. Leadership in a post secondary environment that includes supervising faculty would be considered an asset.
  • Teaching experience , particularly at a post-secondary level would also be desirable.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, Brightspace, or ERP.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.
  • You have experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation.
