Assistant Financial Controller
Reporting to the AVP, Planning and Analysis/Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for all day-to-day accounting and administrative processes, as well as assisting the Group Finance team with ad hoc requests on behalf of the Butterfield Group.
About the Team
The Finance team plays an important role in supporting Butterfield's businesses by providing high-quality planning, reporting, regulatory, and accounting services. It is a fast-paced environment with a global remit. Working with colleagues across the Bank, the Finance team offers the expertise required to measure the Bank's performance and shape Butterfield's future plans.
Your responsibilities will include:
Overseeing the end-to-end Accounts Payable process in accordance with Butterfield's procedures and controls.
Completing the monthly/quarterly/yearly accounting close process. This includes all journal entries, reconciliations, SOX processes, and reports for the jurisdiction.
Preparing monthly financial variance reports and assisting the Controller with annual budgets and ongoing financial forecasts.
Liaising with management, vendors, and other departments to resolve issues and support policy compliance.
Recommending, drafting, and implementing changes to ensure efficiency in of the Finance department.
Assisting with the external audit, including the preparation of working paper files.
Completing special projects and ad-hoc reporting as assigned.
Your qualifications and skills include:
Post-secondary education in Business Administration/Commerce, CPA or CPA candidacy, and a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail, high ethical standards, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks in a busy work environment.
Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
Knowledge of accounting standards and systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
