We are currently seeking an HR Advisor to join our People & Culture team based in the Firm's Halifax, Nova Scotia office.

Type of Position: Full-Time, Permanent

Close Date: June 14, 2026

The Opportunity:

This role is responsible for supporting a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, and HR program administration. The successful candidate will work closely with managers and employees across the Firm to provide guidance, support, and practical HR solutions while contributing to a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

The HR Advisor will provide advice and recommendations related to HR programs, procedures, and best practices while supporting various HR projects and process improvement initiatives. The role will serve as a primary point of contact for HR-related questions and will assist the HR Management team with employee relations matters and day-to-day people support.

A key focus of the role will be leading full-cycle recruitment processes across the Firm. Responsibilities include posting positions, screening candidates, conducting interviews, preparing offer letters, and supporting hiring managers throughout the recruitment process. The HR Advisor will also lead proactive sourcing and headhunting initiatives and other recruitment strategies, while supporting the Firm's presence at recruitment events in the community.

In addition, the HR Advisor will support onboarding initiatives by conducting HR orientation sessions and welcoming new employees to the Firm. The role will also assist with wellness and engagement initiatives, including supporting Firm-wide events and maintaining resources and content.

The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, along with relevant HR experience, preferably within a professional services environment. Strong communication, attention to detail, organizational, and relationship-building skills are essential, as is the ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion. A CPHR designation, or working towards this designation, would be considered an asset.

Our Focus on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion:

At Stewart McKelvey, we are committed to a workplace where you truly belong. We celebrate and respect the unique identities, perspectives, and experiences that each person brings, ensuring everyone feels seen, heard, and valued as part of our firm.

Applicants invited to participate in an interview and who require an accommodation are encouraged to speak with a member of the recruitment team and discuss what we can do to better support them during this process.

Interested Candidates:

For security purposes, applicants are asked to submit their resume, cover letter and any other accompanying application documents in PDF format.

We thank all applicants for their interest. However, only those selected for an interview will be contacted and any offer of employment will be conditional upon a satisfactory background check.
