DataNB

DataNB is a research institute at the University of New Brunswick and the sole provincial administrative data repository in New Brunswick. We house privacy-protected population-level data, which we use to conduct research that supports informed policy- and decision making to promote the health and social prosperity of New Brunswickers. DataNB offers consultation and research services to a variety of stakeholders such as the government different departments, NGOs and academic researchers in different research streams like education, health and economic policy research. In order to conduct this research service, DataNB follows specific steps and procedures in privacy management, data access, data analysis, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.

Salary Range: $65,069 - $88,681 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Research Manager, the Qualitative Research Analyst supports Principal Investigators in all aspects of a research project. This includes planning, coordination and execution of qualitative research initiatives - including data collection, analysis, and report writing. The analyst will also complete project data validation and support mixed methods and quantitative research and evaluation projects.

  • Develop and manage assigned tasks related to research and evaluation projects, in collaboration with research leads.
  • Support overall project management, including timelines of your assigned tasks.
  • Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of new research and evaluation initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of study protocols, data collection plans, research ethics and other documentation as required.
  • Assist Principal Investigators in the preparation of forms required for access to DataNB data.
  • Provide task supervision to research assistants and students.
  • Output, interpret, and communicate research results with project team and external stakeholders verbally and in writing.
  • Contribute to writing research reports and scientific manuscripts for academic publication.
  • Prepare qualitative and mixed methods data sets, and conduct and interpret data analyses.
  • Liaise with DataNB stakeholders as needed for consultation, presentation of results, and research and evaluation development.
  • Liaise with external stakeholder organizations and deliver presentations, as needed, on projects in their research portfolio.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A Graduate Degree in Education, Social Sciences or a related field.
  • 3-5 years' experience conducting qualitative research.
  • Must be bilingual (English and French).

Additional Strengths

  • Experience with evaluation projects and mixed methods research projects.
  • Experience with NVivo or similar qualitative data analysis software.
  • Experience working with research databases, survey data, and coding data for qualitative analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to output, organize and interpret research results in reports for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a team environment.
