Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management: Wood Science and Technology Centre
The Wood Science and Technology Centre is a self-sustaining applied research and development centre, under the administration of the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management, that services the value-added wood products, wood construction, and non-timber forest bio products industries in Atlantic Canada.
WHAT WE OFFER
Full-time | 1 year Term | Fredericton | On Site (Hugh John Flemming Forestry Complex)
Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week
Salary Range: $65,069- $88,681 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Director of the Wood Science and Technology Centre, this position conducts research on innovative wood-based products and timber engineering.
- Develop in-house and contract research projects: develop research proposals as required to meet the Centres' and/or clients' research mandate, and solicit support from funding agencies for clients and the Centre's research projects.
- Execute research projects: develop work plans for projects, conduct research projects, ensure overall quality of technical work, and prepare and review reports.
- Assist to market the services of the Centre: visit mills, companies and other organizations, and represent the Centre at technical conferences, seminars, and other public forums.
- Assist to advise undergraduate and graduate students to conduct thesis projects.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A doctoral degree in wood science and engineering.
- Minimum of five-years working experience in an R&D centre.
Additional Strengths
- Knowledge on statistics, Matlab, Abaqus, and DIC.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work under minimum supervision.
- Capability to operate various woodworking machines and testing equipment.
- Sound publications in scientific journals.
- Ability to write proposals, reports, and papers in a scientific manner.
- Excellent communication, both verbal and written.
