An opportunity exists for a reliable, organized Medical Secretary within the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery supporting Dr. Bradley Greene on a full-time basis. You will be the primary point of contact for patients and the essential link between the clinic, the hospital, and other healthcare providers.
As the successful candidate, you will support an academic plastic surgery practice, both clinical and surgical. Primary responsibilities include booking surgery and maintaining wait times, organization and maintenance of a surgical office and clinic activities, monitoring and managing computerized databases, tracking and arranging patient referrals, follow-up, and investigational tests, and acting as the first point of contact for patients.
Essential Qualifications:
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
- Graduate of a recognized Medical Office Administration Diploma program
- Previous experience (>1 year) in an administrative role in a medical office setting
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology
- Demonstrated Intermediate level computer skills particularly with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Minimum 40 wpm typing speed and transcribing experience
- High level of initiative and self-direction required with proven problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organizational skills to establish and balance competing priorities in a challenging and diverse work environment
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus as well as a positive and professional attitude toward assisting internal or external customers
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and a pleasant telephone manner
- Detail oriented and demonstrated accuracy with the work involved
- Ability to work independently and within a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a Medical Secretary role providing direct support to a Physician with a surgical office
- Experience or training with EPIC electronic medical record systems
- Experience in booking ORs
- Experience with Outlook
- Experience in assisting with conference coordinating, meeting scheduling
- Ensures physician productivity by maintaining calendar, scheduling appointments, physician consultations, meetings, conferences and travel
Job Details:
- Hours: Full-time - 40/week
- Salary: $24/hour
- Schedule: 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday
- Benefits: Paid time off
