Entry Level

MDR Strategy Group is seeking a Student Editorial Director to oversee production of the next issue of The Registrar Magazine, scheduled for publication in August 2026.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a recent journalism graduate (within the last three years) or a student entering their final year of study to lead the end-to-end production of a Canadian publication for professionals who protect the public through professional regulation.

Published by MDR Strategy Group, The Registrar Magazine features human interest stories, interviews, thought leadership, analysis, and feature stories exploring the evolving challenges and opportunities facing regulators, governments, and organizations operating in the public interest. As MDR continues expanding its international footprint, the magazine is also increasingly focused on stories, perspectives, and emerging issues from around the world.

The successful candidate will work directly with MDR's leadership team and contributors to coordinate the editorial process from start to finish, including story planning, research, interviewing, writing coordination, production management, publication preparation, and distribution support.

This is not a passive internship. We are looking for someone eager to lead, learn quickly, take initiative, and help shape a publication read by senior leaders across Canada and beyond.

  • A self-starter who takes initiative and follows through
  • Interested in public affairs, governance, communications, policy, AI, or leadership
  • Interested in international issues and global storytelling
  • Excited by the opportunity to have production of an international magazine on your resume
  • International experience, cross-cultural experience, language skills, or demonstrated interest in global affairs are considered strong assets
  • Experience with magazine production, digital publishing, design tools, photography, social media, or multimedia storytelling is also considered an asset, but is not required

WHAT WE OFFER

  • A flexible part-time position (approximately 50% commitment)
  • Direct mentorship from senior communications and editorial leaders
  • Hands-on experience leading production of an international publication
  • Flexible remote work environment
