We are seeking an experienced and innovative academic leader to join our team as Program Chair, Digital Health and Health Administration. The Program Chair, Digital Health and Health Administration is responsible for the leadership, management, and continuous improvement of academic programming in digital health and health administration. This role focuses on the day-to-day operation of programs, including curriculum implementation, faculty coordination, advisory committee engagement, quality assurance, and scholarship/research.


The Program Chair will also contribute through teaching, bringing applied expertise in digital health systems, healthcare management, and policy to ensure relevant, industry-informed content is delivered across programs. The position emphasizes operational excellence, innovation in online education, and direct engagement with students, faculty, and external stakeholders.
The role requires a strong understanding of emerging trends in digital transformation in healthcare, including health informatics, data governance, patient-centered technologies, and healthcare systems management.

Responsibilities

Academic Leadership

  • Lead the development, refinement, and launch of innovative programs in digital health and health administration.
  • Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of assigned academic programs.
  • Review and monitor the quality, rigour, and completeness of courses within the curriculum; implement continuous improvements based on learner outcomes, feedback, and industry trends.
  • Ensure alignment with academic quality standards, accreditation requirements, and university policies.
  • Integrate emerging topics such as digital health transformation, health data analytics, health informatics, privacy and security in healthcare, and healthcare leadership into curricula.
  • Teach courses in digital health and/or health administration at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as required.

Administrative Functions

  • Provide input into the program's annual budget and support planning related to staffing, scheduling, and strategic priorities.
  • Support the Dean in the recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing development of faculty members.
  • Plan faculty staffing needs and workload distribution, making recommendations to academic leadership.
  • Collaborate with healthcare organizations, industry partners, and professional associations to support experiential learning, applied research, and program relevance.
  • Support and engage program advisory committees, ensuring effective use of feedback for curriculum and program enhancement.
  • Represent the University at external events and participate in institutional committees as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new academic processes, delivery models, and policy improvements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a virtual academic environment.
  • Demonstrated academic leadership and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, including faculty, students, healthcare leaders, and industry partners.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of university operations, online learning models, and trends in higher education.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development, outcomes-based education, and program assessment.
  • Knowledge of digital health ecosystems, healthcare systems, policy environments, and health data governance.
  • Ability to translate industry and healthcare system developments into academic program improvements.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented, deadline-driven environment.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Health Administration, Health Informatics, Public Health, Digital Health, or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in higher education preferred, with relevance to digital health, healthcare management, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership or administrative experience in higher education.
  • Experience in curriculum development, academic governance, program quality assurance, or policy development.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and managing academic or organizational initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High proficiency in the use of technology for academic delivery and administration.
  • Professional experience in healthcare systems, digital health, health informatics, or health administration is considered a strong asset.

Location Requirement

The Program Chair must reside in New Brunswick and may work remotely, with availability to attend the Fredericton office as required.

Hours of Work
This is a full-time permanent position (35 hours per week) under regular business hours. The position is based in Fredericton, NB, with the option to work remotely from anywhere in New Brunswick and attend in-person meetings as required. The ideal candidate resides in New Brunswick or is willing to relocate.
