We are seeking a permanent, full-time Litigation Paralegal to join our Halifax office to provide paralegal services to the Litigation Practice Groups.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft pleadings,
  • Utilize Litigation Support Software to manage document production, disclosure and organization, including the following tasks:
    • data entry to objectively code documents
    • preparation of Affidavits Disclosing Documents (including review and redact for privilege and relevance);
    • compile Books of Evidence/Exhibits;
    • document production;
    • import documents received from opposing counsel;
    • prepare legal chronologies;
  • Record all billable and non-billable functions on a daily basis;
  • Utilize computer technology in an efficient and productive manner;
  • General office and clerical duties, including billable and non-billable functions;
  • Other duties as required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a litigation paralegal/legal assistant, with preference given to those who have completed a recognized paralegal program or equivalent;
  • Previous experience using litigation support software (ie: Discovery Local or CasePoint) is an asset;
  • Excellent technical skills and exceptional attention to detail;
  • Accurate and efficient data entry and keyboarding skills;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines;
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service;
  • Knowledge of the Nova Scotia Civil Procedure Rules is an asset;
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
