Finance and Treasury Board is seeking a highly motivated, capable, and results oriented candidate to fill the position of Financial Analyst within the Budget and Financial Management division. The successful candidate will provide guidance and advice related to financial issues, ensure the integrity and accuracy of provincial expense data, and support New Brunswick's financial accountability and long?term fiscal sustainability. This role requires sound judgment, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to guide financial processes within a fast?paced, service?driven environment.

Who we are

The Budget and Financial Management division is responsible for promoting the effective and efficient use of financial resources of government. This is provided for through two core business areas: The Budget and Expenditure Monitoring Branch and the Treasury Board Secretariat. Staff support both branches of the division.

What you will do

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Completing quality assurance reviews for proposals submitted by government departments to ensure that the information presented is correct, complete, concise, and consistent with any applicable law and previous direction.

  • Providing appropriate financial briefing material for the department's leadership team, including the Deputy Minister and the Minister of Finance and Treasury Board.

  • Assisting with the preparation of the Province's annual budgets and quarterly fiscal and economic updates.

  • Oversee the data collection and entry of key expenditure related data in the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management system.

  • Provide, monitor and adjust key expenditure related data required to consolidate and report on the fiscal information for the province

  • Analyze complex budget, expenditure and financial management issues and provide informed verbal and written briefings to management on how those issues impact and inform the government decision making process with respect to financial aspects.

  • Act as a primary contact for departmental and Crown Agency staff and provide advice and guidance with respect to financial issues and items presented to Treasury Board.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:


PB04 level: Bachelor's degree in commerce, Business Administration or a related degree and a minimum of 4 years of related financial work experience.

PB05 level: Bachelor's degree in commerce, Business Administration or a related degree and a minimum of 5 years of related financial work experience.

PB06 level: Bachelor's degree in commerce, Business Administration or a related degree and a minimum of 7 years of related financial work experience.

Subject to the response to this competition, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference may be given to candidates:

  • Who demonstrate experience in budgets, financial management and/or accounting.

  • Who received certification from the Chartered Professional Accountant Program or are enrolled in the Chartered Professional Accountant Program.

Salary:

Pay Band 4: $59,046 to $82,576 annually, commensurate with experience.

Pay Band 5: $67,600 to $94,406 annually, commensurate with experience.

Pay Band 6: $78,546 to $104,494 annually, commensurate with experience.
