Clinical Support Nurse
Temporary Full-time (6 mos. term position) (subject to change)
The Home is seeking a dynamic, compassionate person; committed to excellence and quality practice environments; with demonstrated team leading skills; and enthusiastic about a profession in Long Term Care to fill the role of Clinical Support Nurse. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, The Clinical Support Nurse develops and facilitates the supervision of current and future nursing students working in the role of CCA (Continuing Care Assistant). The Clinical Support Nurse will impart knowledge, experience, and skillset to nursing students to improve clinical practice in nursing.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate and oversee clinical placement (orientation/ mentoring) of RPL (Program) CCA students & other nursing students based on skill needs of students. Evaluates and documents training, mentorship, and educational process's outcomes. Communication: through personal behavior and interactions and consistently demonstrate a humanistic, affiliative approach to relationships. Orientation and Skills/ Education. Contributes to Continuous Quality Improvement Initiatives in the Nursing Department and participates in Committees/teams as required.

- Recent training in Safe Lifting & Handling Transfer Training & knowledge of Transfer Codes
Educational Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited LPN school with current license registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) Certification in CPR, WHMIS, Food Handlers, Dementia/Alzheimer, Palliative care courses and Gentle Persuasion Approach (GPA); Experienced Certified Continuing Care Assistants (CCA) - with current registry with CCA Registry NS; Minimum of three years clinical experience; Teaching experience would be an asset; Mentor or Instructor Certification an asset.
Required Experience:
Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties and experience in geriatric LTC setting an asset.

Hours of Work: Non-union Regular Temporary full-time (1.0 FTE) - Typically 40 hrs per week, hours to flex as necessary i.e., weekend and afterhours, evenings, nights.
