At New Brunswick Community College (NBCC), instructors play a critical role in shaping careers, strengthening industry, and supporting vibrant communities. We are currently seeking a dynamic and industry‑experienced professional to join us as an Instructor, Sustainable Agriculture in the School of Engineering Technologies

Duration: July 2026 to April 2027

Location: Fredericton

Salary: $2,454.00 to $3,776.00 bi-weekly

Responsibilities

As part of the School of Engineering Technologies and reporting to the Academic Chair, you will be responsible for the planning and preparation of instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas may include, but may not be limited to:

  • Livestock, Nutrition and Production Systems
  • Plants and Production Systems
  • Plant Nutrition and Fertility
  • Pesticide Application
  • Field Crop Production Systems
  • Environmental Science in Agriculture
  • Scouting Practices and Field Sampling
  • Other related subjects as required

The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, Environmental Science, or Plant/Soil Science) with recent and relevant industry work experience.
  • The successful candidate should possess a strong applied background in one or more of the following areas: livestock nutrition and production systems; plant and field crop production systems; plant nutrition and soil fertility; pesticide application and integrated pest management; and/or environmental science as it relates to agriculture.
  • Demonstrated experience working in agricultural or agri-service settings, including activities such as crop production, livestock management, field scouting, soil and plant sampling, nutrient management planning, and/or environmental monitoring.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with industry practices such as scouting protocols, field sampling techniques, safe pesticide handling and application, equipment calibration, and interpreting agronomic or environmental data.

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Pesticide Applicator License, nutrient management planning credentials)
  • Experience in precision agriculture tools, data collection, and applied research or field trials
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or training others in an agricultural or educational setting
  • A combination of crop and livestock systems experience, reflecting a broad understanding of modern agricultural production

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • A desire for continuous learning and growth.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Assets:

  • Minimum of five years of related and recent work experience.
  • Experience working in a post-secondary environment.
