Casual Labourer I - Roadway Operations

Reporting to the Supervisor, Roadway Operations - Engineering and Operations Department the incumbent will perform work, which is physically strenuous in nature and involves the use of hand tools and/or manually operated equipment. Assignments will require the operation of Municipal vehicles. The incumbent may work under supervision and receive daily instruction.

Qualifications Required:

• Secondary education (Grade 12 G.E.D. is acceptable).
• Valid NB Class 5 driver's license required. **You must attach a copy of a valid driver's license and a current copy of your driver's abstract in your application.
• Valid NB Class 3 driver's license would be considered an asset.
• A clear Driver's Abstract is required as condition of employment.

What You'll Do:

• Performs work related to the construction and maintenance of streets, curbs, sidewalks, and storm sewer utilities.
• Working around heavy equipment, interacting with public, working in traffic.
• Performs related work as required.
• Ability to work after hours and willingness to work shifts as required.

What You'll Bring:

• Ability to follow instructions accurately as issued by a Foreman or Supervisor.
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary in work assignments.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• Ability to perform well as an individual and as well on a team ranging in size.
