Position Details:
Position: Tactical Shift Supervisor
Site: Dartmouth General
Hours: 4 on, 4 off rotation, 12 hour shifts
Pay Rate: $24.50
Shift Supervisors are responsible for:
- Directing employees to perform to the standards of Paladin's policies and procedures
- Ensuring employees have and retain knowledge of the site operations
- Ensuring their team is made aware of and understand any Paladin issued memo/announcement
- Ensuring contractual obligations are met - such as no time loss on site. Addressing lateness, absences, and covering shifts as needed
- Responding to all emergencies; taking command of the situation
- Ensuring the health and safety of staff as it pertains to training on Paladin's Occupational Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and reporting any incidents that occur during their shift
- Dealing with disciplinary issues that arise on site, including completion of meetings and paperwork.
Tactical Officers:
- Monitor the Emergency Department (ED), managing any aggressive behavior; Providing security presence and support throughout the ED
- Conduct sets of rounds within the ED area
- Sit with aggressive, abusive, threatening, or high risk patients
- Respond to code situations
- Write reports and investigate routine incidents
- Display excellent customer service skill; ability to work with those under stress or in need of medical assistance
- Assist in developing security plans for high risk patients
- Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts
- Oversee and support patient watch guards within the ED
- Work closely with local police and EHS
- Ensure the safety of staff, patients, and visitors within the ED
- Assist hospital staff with patient restraints as required or directed according to standard operating procedures
- Adhere to all hospital policy and procedures and maintain compliance
- Monitor site visitors and perform ID checks in accordance with site policies and procedures
- Effectively communicate all suspicious activities, concerns, issues, and events to our dispatch team on behalf of the clients' assets
- Prepare and maintain professional and effective reports regarding the activities, security violations, and hazardous occurrences on site
YOU'RE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:
- This position includes enhanced physical requirement, including but not limited to:
- Be able to stand for up to 12 hours
- Be able to walk and patrolling the facility, including use of stairs
- Ability to run and quickly respond to code calls
- Be able to participate in a physical training, such as use of force and physical restraining techniques
- A minimum 1-2 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or related field
- Diploma in Justice studies/police foundations is an asset
- Ability to obtain a provincial Security License
- Standard/Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous Supervisory experience
- Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) are pre-requisites of this position. Prior training certifications may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
- Applicants lacking acceptable certifications can opt into Paladin's training program
- The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however Paladin will cover the cost of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position
