Duties

Under the general supervision of the Works Superintendent or a designated supervisor, the Foreperson oversees water as well as waste and storm water operations and infrastructure throughout the City, including water conservation and maintenance; mentors and supervises staff; and ensures safe, quality and accountable services are provided through a level of service approach.

Qualifications

· 5 years' experience is a supervisory role responsible for water, waste water and storm sewer infrastructure and operations.

· A high school diploma supplemented with a Civil Engineering Technology diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.

· ACWWA Level II certification of both Water Distribution Systems Operator and Sewer Collection Systems Operator.

· Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and experience in snow and ice control are considered assets.

· Possess a valid class 5 Driver's License and be willing to obtain a class 3 Driver's License with air brake endorsement within a short period of time.

· Thorough knowledge of practices, tools, equipment, components and terminology used in the installation, maintenance and repair of water and sewer distribution systems.
