About the Role
Dispatch and Communications Guards provide 24-hour coverage of the Security Control Centre.In this key role, you will oversee several sites within the City of Brampton, monitoring numerous systems including fire and life safety, access control, and CCTV. You will assist in tracking and deployment of security staff and handle a variety of dispatch duties including incident call-taking.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to and dispatch appropriate resources for all telephone and electronic calls for service.
- Respond to and dispatch appropriate resources for all alarms including intrusion, fire, and panic/duress.
- Oversee the tracking and deployment of security personnel across all City of Brampton sites.
- Monitor CCTV systems; complete proactive CCTV tours of facilities for suspicious or criminal activity.
- Review CCTV footage when incidents occur; submit detailed reports of findings.
- Monitor and log activities of Security Services guards; provide management with timely updates.
- Assign reports to security personnel using reporting software.
- Maintain written records of all incoming/outgoing transmissions, incident reports, investigations, and follow-up documentation.
- Request and assist with scheduling guard coverage for emergency book-offs, no-shows, and ad-hoc needs.
- Manage access control and parking systems; unlock/lock doors and offices through electronic systems.
- Sign out equipment to Mobile Response guards; document and report defective equipment.
- Complete daily briefs to Security Services management and other personnel.
- Investigate routine incidents.
- Assist with patrols and other guard duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of dispatch security experience required.
- Minimum 3 years of security experience or related experience is an asset.
- Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and Criminal Code.
- Must complete a Dispatch/Communications Training program within 3 months of placement.
- Good cognitive, interpersonal, and communication skills; critical thinking; sound judgment.
- Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time. Ability to remain composed and organized under pressure or in high-stress situations.
- Ability to multitask efficiently and provide guidance and supervision to all Security Guards.
- Excellent customer service skills; ability to articulate clearly on the phone
- Proficient with computers; experience using Microsoft Office, incident reporting software, and CCTV investigation software.
- Completion of a Law and Security / Police Foundations or related program is preferred and considered an asset.
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certification program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
