Northwood is currently accepting applications for a Nursing Services Manager - Site Lead to join our long term care team in Ivy Meadows ( Possible tranfer to Northwood Fall River in future)
Reporting to the Senior Director, Long Term Care, the Nursing Services Manager works as a member of an interprofessional team supporting nursing staff in the delivery of quality resident care based on a person-centrered care philosophy. Through the use of leadership skills, management processes and an understanding of the decision making process, the manager coaches and mentors employees to achieve the best quality of life for the people in our care and the best possible work life for the people who work here.
Qualifications:
- Health profession designation is required with RN/LPN preferred
- Bachelor Degree in a health care related field or degree/diploma in Nursing
- Registered Nurse in the Province of Nova Scotia (preferred)
- One to three years management experience
- Long term care experience (preferred)
- Gerontology certificate considered an asset
- Demonstrated abilities in coaching and mentoring others, problem solving, critical thinking, conflict resolution, judgement and decision making, confidentiality, follow employer policies
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, organizational and clinical skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Able to maintain regular and consistent attendance
Responsibilities:
- Develops and supports the strategic direction of the department and organization through active participation in goal development and indicator monitoring
- Supports the RN Clinical Leader in providing direction to staff to solve clinical, ethical, and moral issues
- Supports the RN Clinical Leaders in responding to complaints, concerns, and incidents ensuring appropriate corrective action and follow up is taken and documented
- Maintains and applies knowledge of acts, regulations, policies and procedures that affect residents and staff and monitors compliance
- Ensures that systems and processes are in place to address and prevent resident occurrences and risk issues.
- Support the RN Clinical Leader in coaching and mentoring staff to achieve the best quality of life for the people in our care and the best possible work life for the people who work at Northwood
- Manages and supports the performance of employees
- Establish processes to measure, monitor, and evaluate quality management initiatives that engages staff in improving quality resident outcomes
- Works collaboratively with Key Stakeholder e.g. Human Resources, NSHA
- Participates and/or lead various committees
- Communicates with internal and external bodies (e.g. other departments, stakeholders, DHW and NSHA)
- Completes other tasks and duties as assigned
Hours: 40 hours bi-weekly ( Flexibility is required - On Call support is part of role )
Salary: As per Northwood Scale
Start Date: July 1st 2026
