Salary Range: $57,004 - $74,113 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Manager Instructional Design and Development, the Instructional Designer serves as a pedagogical and design consultant on multiple course development projects. Working closely with the IDD team and counterparts in Teaching and Transformative Learning, this position is responsible for guiding instructional design, supporting content development, and contributing to the development and delivery of high-quality learning experiences from concept through to course launch. This position applies industry-standard instructional design practices to support both internal and external clients, with a focus on learner engagement and user experience.
- Guide Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop course content aligned with learning objectives and instructional standards.
- Review and edit course materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, grammar, and consistency.
- Translate and adapt instructional materials into engaging formats for storyboard development.
- Integrate text, visuals, audio, and video to support effective communication of learning content.
- Collaborate with business leads, SMEs, external partners, Teaching and Transformative Learning, and internal teams to translate requirements into effective learning solutions.
- Coordinate content development activities across projects to meet timelines and deliverables.
- Determine instructional strategies aligned with course goals, content, and learning objectives.
- Collaborate with instructors, SMEs, and other CFL units to design effective assessment strategies.
- Conduct needs analysis to design and implement instructional solutions that enhance learning effectiveness and scalability.
- Participate in program reviews to support continuous course and curriculum improvement.
- Use institutionally approved technologies, including emerging AI-supported tools, while maintaining pedagogical integrity, accessibility, and ethical use.
- Develop instructional assets such as e-learning modules, videos, tutorials, user guides, job aids, assessments, etc.
- Support development of online learning materials for internal and external audiences.
- Ensure instructional assets remain consistent, accessible, and aligned with course design requirements and learning objectives.
- Maintain adherence to course development standards, accessibility requirements, and style guidelines.
- Apply instructional design best practices to support academic rigour, authentic learning, and effective assessment of learning outcomes.
- Analyse learner feedback and course performance data to support course and program enhancements with academic and quality assurance partners.
- Participate in professional development to remain current with instructional design trends, tools, and technologies.
- Apply new tools and knowledge to enhance course development and the learner experience.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Master's degree in instructional design, education or instructional technology, curriculum and instruction, higher education, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in instructional design, educational technology, training, pedagogy, or curriculum development in a post secondary educational setting.
- Experience designing and developing learning experiences for adult learners across a variety of formats and delivery environments.

- Experience with andragogy (the theory, science, and methods of adult education), especially as it relates to adult learners with limited or no university education.
