The Access Control post at Victoria Hospital supports secure entry management within a restricted hospital area. Duties include credential verification, monitoring controlled access points, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies. The role requires attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to operate effectively in a healthcare environment.
Position: Full Time Access Control Guard
Site: London Health Sciences Centre – Victoria Campus
Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (20:00 – 05:30hrs)
Payrate: $18.54/hr
Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement (AA)

The day-to-day work activities of an Access Control Security Guard include, but are not limited to the following duties:
- Control entry and access to the hospital
- Ensuring compliance with the standards, rules, and regulations at the hospital
- Able to use tact and diplomacy in dealings across a range of settings and situations
- Ability to maintain and enforce access control procedures
- Solid understanding of emergency and standard operating procedures
- Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons found on the property, in a fair and safe manner, by enforcing the Trespass to Property Act
- De-escalate emergency/crisis situations
Job Requirements:
- Must possess Ontario Security Guard License
- First Aid & CPR – Level C (WSIB approved)
- Post-Secondary education in law enforcement from a recognized institution or equivalent experience is preferred
- Physical Demands include excessive walking and standing
- Utilize radio and computer applications for communicating site activities
- Watch for and report irregularities by completing incident reports, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact, and diplomacy.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Authorized to legally work in Canada
Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
