ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services ? Eastern Rural Zone invites expressions of interest from Family Physicians seeking a change of pace and looking to work in Long-Term Care at the Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion in Carbonear, NL. This is a Level 3 long-term care facility offering a rewarding and manageable practice environment with experienced nursing support.

Work Environment

Carbonear is a beautiful rural town approximately 100 kilometers outside of St. John's, serving around 50,000 people in the Rural Avalon Region. The community offers many amenities including hiking, a swimming pool, biking and walking trails, restaurants, local theatre, and shopping.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
  • Must maintain active licensure to practice throughout the duration of the position
  • Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct in-person weekly rounds with experienced nursing staff on the unit
  • Provide chronic disease management, emergency care, patient stabilization and transfer, and palliative and end-of-life care
  • Be available by phone during daytime hours (8:00am?5:00pm, Monday to Friday) for occasional calls from the floor
  • Participate in a light home overnight on-call group ? the majority of calls are manageable by phone
  • Be available on site within 30 minutes for occasions requiring in-person patient assessment while on call
  • Perform minor administrative and teaching duties as outlined in the full position description

REMUNERATION

  • Fee-For-Service for patients seen in person or virtually, as per the MCP Payment Schedule
  • Sessional stipend available for on-call coverage
  • Physicians arrange their own billing
  • No overhead charges
