Temporary Full-Time Healthcare Security Officers - Humberwood Treatment Facility

Site Description: Humberwood Centre offers a program of recovery and personal growth to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. Located in the city of Corner Brook, the Centre offers a small, intimate setting where clients receive attention and a flexible, individualized program to meet their needs. The Centre opened in 1990 and has many years of experience treating people with addictions to alcohol, drugs and/or gambling.

Position: Temporary Full-Time Security Officer

Site: Humberwood Treatment Centre

Overtime (OT): OT after 48 hours

Hours: Temporary Full-Time, until at least July 1, 2026.

Payrate: $19.67/hour

Key responsibilities:

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

• Clear Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
• Tuberculosis (TB) Screening: All healthcare workers must undergo assessment for tuberculosis.
• Vaccination Documentation: Proof of completion of the full series of childhood/primary vaccinations is required.
• Tdap Vaccine: One dose of Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Acellular Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine is required upon reaching 18 years of age.
• Booster Requirement: A booster dose of tetanus toxoid-reduced diphtheria toxoid (Tdap) is required every 10 years
• Covid Vaccine two doses
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
• Valid Class 5 Driver License & must be willing to take shifts at sites within a reasonable driving distance.
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants without these may complete Paladin's UoF/MOAB pre-hire training.
