Business Line: Global Risk Management – Risk Business Analytics
Job Purpose:
- The Risk Management mandate is to provide oversight, monitoring and reporting of all operational, credit and market risks, including fraud exposures on an enterprise-wide basis.
- This role supports the Senior Manager of Credit Risk and the overall Risk Management Team in identifying critical financial information typically from the bank's Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).
- The Senior Analyst, Credit Risk is accountable for reporting on Credit Risk metrics and supporting the analysis of these metrics, along with strategy development analytics and execution across all Tangerine products and in particular the Tangerine lending portfolio. Accordingly, the role requires strong data programming skills including SQL, SAS, Tableau, VBA, Python and/or R.
- This role will allow the Senior Credit Risk Analyst to gain insight into the bank's financial systems, economic drivers and regulatory reporting environment. The candidate should be naturally inclined toward mathematics and have a curiosity to learn complex systems. A background in statistics, economics, finance or accounting is desirable.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Produce regular credit risk reports and analytics in an efficient manner using tools such as SQL, SAS, Datameer, Tableau, VBA, Python, R and other data retrieval tools/techniques.
- Performance monitoring and reporting to enable actionable insights for key stakeholders
- Continuously find ways to improve reporting process, capabilities and consistency through automation and reduction of errors
- Support ad hoc analysis as required from time-to-time for different stakeholders
- Monitor and track recently implemented initiatives. Provide feedback, insights and comments derived from quantitative analysis. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of reports. Implement adjustments according to management feedback with a fast turnaround time
- Support the creation of a test and learn environment, to maximize learning for future growth
- Identify growth opportunities that fit within the optimal Risk/Reward balance and recommend initiatives to implement
Credit Risk Data Management
- Contribute towards development of a robust analytical infrastructure, including but not limited to databases and MIS
- Collaborate with stakeholders on conversion of data/reporting assets, report automation, and/or data controls/governance
- Data reconciliation to ensure ingestion of data originating from source systems are accurate
- Point-of-contact for the team on all data tools, and on data documentation
Credit Risk Management Strategies
- Continuously acquire and enhance knowledge of credit lifecycle strategies and policies, and business and product development principles and approaches
- Lead and support the development and implementation of credit risk and loss mitigation plans and provide insight to the management team through ad hoc requests, projects and initiatives.
Other Accountabilities if/when required
- Assist in providing financial information related to the expected loss component of the provision for credit loss and other portfolio insight in actively managing credit risk of consumer lending portfolios.
- Assist in providing information to BNS Head Office with matters in respect regulatory and other risk reporting.
- Cross-train and share risk analytic knowledge with team members to foster a strong risk discipline environment.
- Collaborate with Account Management and Operations risk teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- University Degree in business or equivalent Minimum 2 years of financial services experience, with particular focus and emphasis on Credit Risk, operational function support, system and project implementation and vendor management.
- Proven expertise in the establishment of procedure structure, policies and/or programs within a business or function.
- Strong presentation and "story-telling" skills. Aptitude for innovation and readiness to "roll up sleeves" and do what is necessary to deliver on business objectives.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, Excellent attention to detail, Strong change management and people development skills.
