The Manager, Relief ensures exceptional client and stakeholder service while maintaining team efficiency in a collaborative
environment. They oversee daily operations, manage resources, and address escalations to meet service goals and short-term
objectives. They work with stakeholders to align operational needs with organizational priorities and support team members in
coordinating services for clients affected by emergencies, tailored to the event's scope and impact.
In this role you will:
- Coordinate with various agencies, organizations, and community stakeholders to ensure a unified and effective response/s.
- Build and maintain relationships with government, community/local groups, different non-profits and various funders.
- Understand the scope, reporting requirements, and budget as the main point of contact for executing our contract/s or serviceagreement/s.
- Support and participate in emergency response exercises to evaluate and improve readiness.
- Lead and coordinate emergency response efforts during response operations.
- Ensure the availability and functionality of emergency response resources.
- Implement strategies to mitigate risks and enhance community resilience.
- Stay informed about changes in policies and regulations related to emergency management.
- Participate in reviews of emergency responses to identify strengths, lessons learned, and areas for improvement.
- Implement changes to plans and procedures based on post-incident analyses.
- Engage with the community to build awareness and involvement in emergency preparedness initiatives.
- Foster partnerships with community organizations to enhance overall resilience.
What w e are looking for:
- A minimum of 4-7 years experience and a 3-year college diploma or university degree in emergency
management, social services, health services, logistics, project management and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Supervisory or management experience with leadership and team management skills and the ability to manage performance,resolve conflicts, and engage employees.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, database platforms and interactive data visualization software is required.
- Ability to plan, adjust and operationalize the service agreements by understanding the needs and impact of the service and
choosing the best method of delivery based on these needs. - Ability to identify complex problems, analyze interrelated factors, mitigate risks, and develop solutions using specialized skills.
- Communication and influencing skills to synthesize diverse and sometimes conflicting perspectives and find mutually beneficial solutions, often in sensitive or complex situations.
Working Conditions:
- The role includes fieldwork, deployment to emergency operations, and office-based work during non-deployment periods.
- Domestic or international travel to unsafe or high-stress environments; exposure to major adverse conditions requiring
personal safety management. - Work requires the ability to work to multiple, business critical, and conflicting deadlines.
- Work requires interactions in difficult, emotionally charged situations.
- Work requires interactions and support to clients who are experiencing traumatic situations.
- In a large scale emergency where staff numbers are compromised or additional resources are required, provide disaster reliefand/or emergency field operational support.
- Potential for responding to disaster areas, as well as difficult and unstable conditions (environmental, physical, social, etc.) and uncomfortable conditions (noise, odors, smoke, humidity, vulnerable beneficiaries). These stressful rapidly changing
environments with limited information to make decisions have the potential to affect the physical and psychological state of theresponders on site. - Will be required to work extended hours during peak periods on short notice.
