Reporting to the Director of Design, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
providing leadership, guidance, and support to employees, while ensuring effective teamwork and performance;
providing expertise and technical guidance regarding Highway Design within the Design Branch, other DTI Branches as well as other external skateholders;
Prioritization of projects and input in the development of DTI's long-term capital plan;
Management of the Highway Design capital and ordinary budgets, providing input to the branch budgets as requested;
contributing to the development of internal specifications, guidelines, and policies;
providing input on provincial and national codes, standards, and guidelines related to geometric design;
liaising with other departmental personnel as well as external stakeholders and regulators (federal and provincial).

Office location: 440 King Street, Fredericton.
Open office layout
Standard hours of work: Monday – Friday.

Essential Qualifications:
University degree in Civil Engineering.
Minimum of ten (10) years related experience;
Supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of the Transportation Association of Canada Geometric Design Guides
Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB) or Registered as a Professional Engineer with a Canadian regulatory body.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following assets:
Minimum of ten (10) years of Highway Design experience;
Five (5) years of supervisory experience;
Experience in geometric design, highway construction, and/or highway planning experience;
Experience with projects using NBDTI Standard and Particular Specifications.
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

BASE SALARY: $3,552.09 to $4,632.67 bi-weekly, based on a 36.25 hours per week.
Based on Operational Requirements, hours may be designated to:
40 hours per week ($3,919.55 to $5,111.91 bi-weekly) or
45 hours per week ($4,409.09 to $5,750.90 bi-weekly)
Recognition and Retention Premium:
The recognition and retention premium is based on written confirmation of recognition and registration with a Canadian Regulatory body.
Fifteen (15) years but less than twenty (20) years – 1.0%
Twenty (20) years but less than twenty-five (25) years – 2.0%
Twenty-five (25) years – 3.0%
