Who we are:
The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) is seeking an Information Management Strategist within the IT Strategy & Business Solutions (ITSBS) Branch of the Corporate Services Division. This role plays a critical part in advancing the department's digital transformation agenda by ensuring efficient, compliant, and modernized records and information governance practices across the organization.
Our ITSBS Branch supports EECD's strategic priorities by ensuring the efficient use of digital tools and safeguarding data privacy. Drawing from an innovative mindset, the Information Management Strategist plays a pivotal role in optimizing records architecture, ensuring legal compliance under the Archives Act, the Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (RTIPPA), and the Education Act, while enhancing governance maturity across EECD's diverse operational landscape.
What you will do:
As an Information Management Strategist, you will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and expert guidance for records and information management (RIM). Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Leadership and Compliance:
- Develop and implement RIM strategies aligned with departmental priorities and legislative requirements (e.g., Archives Act, RTIPPA).
- Collaborate with executive leadership on governance models that integrate risk management and digital transformation initiatives.
- Digital Systems Governance and Integration:
- Serve as the business owner for records systems, including legacy platforms and cloud-based tools (SharePoint Online, Microsoft Purview).
- Configure and enforce metadata, retention schedules, and security frameworks to ensure compliance and accessibility.
- Leading Modernization Projects:
- Manage strategic initiatives, including the transition from paper-based records to digital formats using Microsoft 365.
- Represent RIM interests in province-wide technology rollouts, ensuring that policies and user needs are prioritized during implementations.
- Engagement and Capacity Building:
- Deliver targeted training sessions and create user-friendly resources to support digital recordkeeping and governance adoption.
- Foster collaboration among diverse internal and external stakeholders to support consistent practices and enhance user confidence.
- M365 Governance:
- Oversee the governance and stewardship of Microsoft 365 collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, OneDrive), balancing accessibility, compliance, and efficiency outcomes.

Additionally, you are passionate about enabling secure and efficient access to information that drives better services. Desired qualifications and competencies include:
Need to Have:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or business administration, with a minimum of 4 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft 365 platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive) and tools that include Microsoft Purview.
- Proven experience in managing digital transformation, including retention and privacy compliance, system migrations, and governance standardization.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in records and information management or a related field.
- Familiarity with education-sector RIM practices, including student cumulative files.
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks such as the Archives Act, RTIPPA, and the Education Act.
- Certification as a Microsoft Purview specialist or a related governance role.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Salary:
Pay Band 5: $67,600 - $94,406 annually
Work environment:
- Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15 - 4:30
