Note: This position is "as needed". We do not guarantee minimum hours while employed as a casual security guard. Candidates must be flexible in their overnight availability and be able to pick up shifts short notice.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the site, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
  • Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors and staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
  • Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
  • Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with site-level staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Enforce Site Policies: Ensure that site policies and protocols are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds safety standards

Prerequisites:

  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
  • Valid G class Driver License is an asset
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
  • Please note: The UoF/MOAB Certification is Unpaid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability.
  • Authorized to legally work in Canada
