Project Engineer

Project Engineer (Junior / Intermediate) | Heavy Civil & Marine

Alva Construction Limited - Antigonish, Nova Scotia

We are looking for a Junior/Intermediate Project Engineer. You will be working with our senior project team. In this full time role, you will assist our team of engineers, surveyors and field supervisors with heavy civil and marine operations including roads, bridges, wharves and mine projects.

Your Role & Responsibilities

You will support the planning, execution, and delivery of heavy civil engineering projects, contributing technical expertise while maintaining hands-on project involvement.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting project estimation, cost tracking, and monthly progress invoicing.

Ensuring adherence to project design standards and contract specifications.

Support staff in the preparation of quantity calculations and design using AutoCAD and Civil 3D

Acting as a liaison between field staff and senior project managers to ensure positive project outcomes.

Supporting contract administration, technical reviews, and bid document evaluations.

Qualifications & Experience

University degree in Civil Engineering or a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.

Willingness to work both in the field and in an office environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.

Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Bluebeam, B2W Estimate, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.

Proven problem-solving abilities.

Previous construction background or Civil 3D design experience is considered an asset.
